After a year of livestreaming, concerts are back in person.

The Albany Diocese will hold its seventh annual Concert for Vocations on Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany.

The night begins at 6 p.m. with Holy Hour and Benediction led by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger. The concert begins at 7 p.m. with performances by priests, seminarians, deacons, religious discerners and laity around the Diocese.

“It’s exciting,” said Father Anthony Ligato, vicar for vocations. “We’re also providing the concert to be livestreamed, which is something we’ve done even before COVID. We have people come on from all over the country.”

The concert contains a mix of classical and contemporary music. Bishop Scharfenberger will be performing “The Impossible Dream” from the Broadway musical, “Man of La Mancha.” Father Matthew Duclos will be accompanying a number of performers, and Sarah Guerra, administrative assistant for the Office of Vocations, will be performing “Climb Every Mountain” from “The Sound of Music” alongside Father Ligato as an ode to religious sisters.
