NEW OFFICES
Senior Services relocates
The agency's offices are now located at 1473 Erie Blvd. in Schenectady. The agency moved into the facility in January.
"The new building is easily accessible," said Kathleen Conboy, administrative coordinator. "Clients can come in and get on the elevator. They don't have to worry about stairs."
Clients also appreciate that the new space has a waiting room and offices that offer confidentiality. The original office had been built as a residence, with additions added later.
While the fire precipitated the move, the Called to Be Church process also led to the new office space.
Deborah Damm O'Brien, executive director of Catholic Charities Senior Services in Schenectady, said that when long-time executive director John Steele retired from Catholic Charities of Schenectady County, the agency restructured.
Though Catholic Charities still provides the same services, programs that serve families and pregnant teens are now under the umbrella of Community Maternity Services, while family counseling is being supervised by Catholic Charities of Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties.
In addition to housing senior services, the new building houses family counseling and nutrition outreach programs.
