STEWART HUBBARD of Our Lady of the Americas Shrine Church in Albany, a mission of Blessed Sacrament parish, will be going to Nicaragua in February. There was a breakfast fundraiser to help him raise funds to build casitas (homes) and fund school lunches....

St. Matthew's parish in Voorheesville notes that parishioner Peggy Day and her son, Luke, will make a service trip to Guatemala in 2018 with Dream Steps International to build beds for families in need. They are raising money to pay for the beds and bedding, which will cost $208 each; donations are invited....

MIKE SKINKLE is the new pastoral associate for faith formation at Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson, guiding the GIFT intergenerational faith formation program....

St. Cecilia's parish in Fonda will have its annual "Santa Breakfast" after 9 a.m. Mass Dec. 17. Parishioners are donating baked goods and more. Child and adult singers are rehearsing for the Christmas Mass choir....

Christ the King parish in Westmere, Albany, had a family Advent gathering with wreath-making; special guests Anna, Elsa and Olaf from the Disney movie "Frozen;" kids' crafts; "Santa's bake shop" and cookie-decorating; and an Advent/Christmas shop with small gifts available for purchase....

The Sage Singers performed "A Ceremony of Carols" and other seasonal selections Dec. 13 at Christ Sun of Justice parish in Troy as part of the 50th anniversary celebration for the RPI Chapel and Cultural Center, where the parish is located. The Sage Singers are a 70-voice chorus of Russell Sage College students and Capital Region community members.

Blessed Sacrament parish in Bolton Landing had an Advent candlelight vigil, with Scripture, music, quiet reflection and devotions to Our Lady of Guadalupe. REV. JOHN O'KANE, the parish priest, was available for the sacrament of reconciliation. After the vigil, people gathered for Christmas cookies, coffee and punch....

The Rosary Society at Sacred Heart parish in Tribes Hill has disbanded. "I am thankful for the many women who have served on the Rosary Society over the many years of the parish. God bless to those who pray the Rosary each day for guidance from our Lady," said Rev. Chris Welch, pastor....

St. Mary's parish in Oneonta is reserving the Blessed Sacrament in the rectory until its chapel is completed. Parishioners can pray before the Blessed Sacrament during parish office hours 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday....

St. Mary's in Glens Falls had a "first Friday fish fry" in early December, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus....

St. Clement's in Saratoga will change its Sunday Mass schedule Jan. 7: The 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. Masses will be merged into a 10 a.m. Mass. There are three other Masses to choose from: 4 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

St. Mary's parish in Ballston Spa sponsored an adult education session with retreat facilitator SISTER JANE COMERFORD, CSJ, on "Practical Ways of Praying"....

St. Michael's in South Glens Falls noted that the parish's main furnace/boiler needed major repairs recently -- which only happened quickly because another job that needed the same kind of tank was cancelled, so the company had one available. St. Michael's also planned to repair the commercial stove in the parish kitchen.

WANDA RICE is retiring Jan. 1 as secretary for Holy Mother and Child parish in Corinth/Lake Luzerne and CHRIS MORREALE will be doing bookkeeping only. The parish is seeking a new secretary....

The Friendship Café, a site for seniors in the community to enjoy lunch together on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, has returned to Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson. The parish previously hosted the group for more than 30 years. Transportation to the meals is provided....

REV. MICHAEL FLANNERY celebrated a "Rorate Mass" Dec. 9 at Sacred Heart parish in Albany. The Rorate Caeli Mass is a traditional Advent devotion; the "votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary for Advent" is offered just before dawn, by candlelight, to highlight the meaning of Advent and the coming of Jesus, the light of the world....

ANGIE OGREN is retiring after 30 years as secretary and, later, office manager for St. Luke's parish in Schenectady. She "has served with dedication, professionalism and loyalty," said the parish bulletin....

Sacred Heart parish in Sidney started Advent with a "Come Open the Gifts of Advent" program and a potluck dinner....

St. Pius X parish in Loudon­ville is once again hosting men's and women's prayer breakfasts this Advent, with speakers TOM MARUSAK and DIANE FORENZO. St. Pius is also participating in Hannaford supermarkets' Helping Hands Boxes project: For $10, parishioners buy a box of 10 pieces of food to be donated to the Sacred Heart food pantry; 164 boxes have al-ready been delivered....

The St. Joseph Schola Cantorum is looking for singers. The group sings weekly at Latin Masses at noon on Sundays at St. Joseph's parish in Troy, directed by BERNIE OUIMET....

St. Theresa's parish in Windham hosted a brass quintet for a free concert for the Christmas season....

Parishioners of St. Paul's in Hancock will go Christmas caroling Dec. 23, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at Read Memorial Senior Housing, downtown businesses and the local Rite Aid drugstore, where they'll have hot chocolate and cookies....

St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish in Schenectady gave an update on its Christmas tree sale, declared a "great success:" TIM KENNEDY, DYLAN and MATT put together tree stalls; CHRIS SOLIMINI transported the trees from Hagaman to Niskayuna; LARRY GRIMMER, Massaroni Landscaping, MAGGIE MALATESTA and BRIAN, JONAS, MICHAEL and RAY from the UAlbany Epsilon Eta chapter of Alpha Phi Delta helped unload the 130 trees....

St. Peter's parish in Saratoga Springs has re-erected a statue that was returned to the parish after years; leaders believe it once stood in the parish center....

Christ the King parish in Westmere, Albany, congratulated JOHN AND NANCY DIIANNI on their 50th wedding anniversary....

St. Ambrose parish in Latham has a new logo and "parish brand." The logo, which reads, "Saint Ambrose Catholic Community: United in Christ," is meant to show that the parish, church and school are one community. Everything the parish publishes will include the logo.
