Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson is helping the African Reflections Foundation in Tanzania, collecting money after Masses so that Mwongozo Primary School can build toilets....

St. Cecilia's parish in Warrensburg bid farewell to JOEY SCHUSTER, who was leaving for a semester of service in Madagascar....

St. Matthew's parish in Voorheesville has a Wednesday-morning "Little Angel Story Hour" for young children, 10:30-11:30 a.m., to learn colors, letters, numbers, the calendar and manners to prepare for kindergarten....

On Oct. 29, teens from All Saints on the Hudson parish in Mechanicville/Stillwater will celebrate World Youth Day at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, serving as lectors, greeters, ushers and presenters of the offertory gifts and serving refreshments afterward....

The Altar Rosary Society of Our Lady Queen of Peace parish in Schenectady is holding a fall vendor craft fair Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will also be food, face-painting and pumpkin-painting, plus a pie sale. Holy Trinity parish in Cohoes welcomed aspirant RUSSELL BERGMAN, who is observing and participating in parish life as he discerns a call to the priesthood. Pastor REV. BRIAN SLEZAK has been appointed assistant to the diocesan vicar for vocations, which means he'll offer spiritual direction, be involved in St. Isaac Jogues House of Formation, attend Vocations Board meetings and visit seminaries to meet with the Diocese's 18 seminarians. REVS. DON BOURGEOIS and RICHARD TESTA will help cover Masses whenever he is away.

Holy Trinity parish congratulated LILLIAN HERRINGTON and DARLENE PERREAULT on their installation into the Ladies of Ste. Anne Society at a Mass. Parishioners MARGARET STOCKWELL, LORRAINE OKESON, JULIE CARRIGAN, BARBARA HILDRETH and DEBORAH CZMYR appeared on Catholic radio station WOPG to share their views about the parish and community....

Knights of Columbus BOB O'ROURKE, JOSH MENZIES and ADDIE BREITENSTEIN of Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson conveyed the 3rd degree of the K of C on BISHOP EDWARD B. SCHARFENBERGER. Knights of Columbus resurfaced the handicap ramp at Our Lady of Fatima....

MARGARET CONNOLY led a tour of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady for the parish's RCIA group of people joining the church; Larry Rainey gave out notes on St. John the Evangelist's history....

Christ Our Light parish in Loudonville noted a recent monthly food pantry effort: "We served 50 food-insecure families from within our area and distributed nearly 3,000 pounds of food, 735 pounds of fresh produce and 90 loaves of bread. We distributed several hundred pounds of personal items." Also, parishioners JIM COGAN and JIM HORTON repainted the walls in the parish hall....

St. Stanislaus parish in Amsterdam plans a "heritage weekend" Dec. 16-17, with a pierogi and babka sale, a concert by choir members and musicians from St. Stanislaus, St. Stephen's in Hagaman and St. Adalbert's in Schenectady, and a reception....

Albany's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is going live with a new, 3-D website, www.cathedralic.com. The cathedral has a new trustee, CLAUDE ROUNDS, replacing GEORGE WEBB.

A "Bowling for Beef" event worked out so well last year that it was held again in September at Del Lanes in Delmar as a benefit for Cathedral Social Services' food pantry at Albany's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception....

St. Mary's parish in Granville noted that its Our Lady of Mount Carmel church building is 150 years old. Parishioners celebrated with an open house to reminisce....

The annual golf tournament at St. Lucy/St. Bernadette parish in Altamont, its main fundraiser, raised $12,000 for the parish....

Sacred Heart parish in Castleton is going to have its church bell restored after many years. Fundraising continues; the tower must be cleaned and fenced in and a new electrical system installed....

Sacred Heart parish in Margaretville noted that MARCIA OLENYCH'S term as chair of the pastoral council is done. She will schedule ministers for Mass, while TODD PASCARELLA will chair the committee and AILISA BOYER will take minutes. Parishioners are looking into areas of interest like monthly Friday dinners at the rectory, fundraising gatherings at Vly Creek Distillery, bake sales, a Bible group and more....

REV. DANIEL QUINN of St. Paul the Apostle parish in Hancock and some laypersons are doing continuing theological studies at the request of BISHOP EDWARD B. SCHARFENBERGER, including a course in October, on ST. JOHN PAUL II's "Theology of the Body." They'll learn about creation in the image of God, fall and redemption, Christian ethics and ethos, freedom and person, gender and vocation, and have parish discussions and presentations on what they have discovered....

St. Stanislaus parish in Amsterdam wished eldest active parishioner EFFIE WOJTKIEWICZ a happy and joyous 102nd birthday; the parish had a reception for her....

Our Lady of the Valley parish in Middleburgh offered a basic sewing class, covering threading a needle, sewing on a button, hemming pants, repairing a shirt collar and patching jeans, even using sewing machines....

At Our Lady of Hope, Whitehall, REV. RENDELL TORRES led a "walk through the Mass," explaining the meaning behind each part of the Mass....

The new sidewalks are completed at St. Jude the Apostle parish in Wynantskill, donated by RODDY VALENTI of R.J. Valenti Sand and Gravel; the paver bricks provide a prayer opportunity, such as praying the Rosary or novena to St. Jude, since the sidewalks have an inlaid cross inspired by the crosses on the front doors of the church....

St. Henry's parish in Averill Park had a 100th birthday party for ALMA CLEMENT and a "Divine Sisterhood" retreat for women, with the theme, "The Cup of Life: Half-Full or Half-Empty?"....

Our Lady Queen of Peace parish in Schenectady sponsored a family movie night, showing "Molokai," the true story of REV. DAMIEN DE VEUSTER, a priest who served at a Hawaiian leprosy settlement until contracting the disease himself....

Renditions of the proposed parish center remodel at Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville have parishioners excited. Trustees DAN SLIVA and MARYANN HASKELL and REV. JEROME GINGRAS, pastor, met with the diocesan Architecture and Building Commission and the parish has created a "building fund account" for donations. Already, the Rosary Altar Society gave $2,000.
