Sacred Heart parish in Lake George noted that its August Bible study, "Drive through History: The Gospel," was open to surrounding parishes, as was a Sept. 14 "twilight retreat" titled, "The Three Great Loves: Love of God, Love of Neighbor, and Love of Self"....

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas from the Battenkill Cluster (St. Joseph's in Greenwich, Notre Dame-Visitation in Schuylerville, Holy Cross in Salem and St. Patrick's in Cambridge) are sponsoring a bus trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville Sept. 30. On Sept. 30, Knights of Columbus from Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson will sponsor a charity golf classic to benefit Schenectady City Inner Ministry (SICM) at the Edison Club in Rexford....

Parishioners of St. Joseph's in Stephentown, a mission of Immaculate Conception in New Lebanon, had an open house at the church as part of a "Celebrate Stephentown" event. Visitors were welcomed throughout the day. Meanwhile, GUS MURRAY and RICK LEAVENWORTH were repairing windows in the parish hall....

St. Michael's parish in South Glens Falls loaned items to the historical society of Moreau and South Glens Falls at Parks Bentley Place for an exhibit on local historical organizations. It's open on Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., through Oct. 7, or by appointment; call (518) 745-7741....

On Oct. 7, Ss. Anthony and Joseph parish in Herkimer will have a half-day retreat to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. There will be a Mass at 8:30 a.m. and a retreat from 9:15 a.m.-noon on "Mary, the model of faith for all Christian families"....v Since the feast of St. Augustine fell on a Monday this year, St. Augustine's parish in Troy had a special liturgy Aug. 27. Members of the Augustinian Seculars attended and refreshments were served afterward....

To note the Travers Stakes race at Saratoga Racecourse, Sacred Heart parish in Castleton asked parishioners -- men and women, adults and children -- to wear hats to church Aug. 26-27....

Holy Family parish in Little Falls sold parish t-shirts after Masses the weekend of Sept. 2-3. The price was $12; proceeds go to the church....

Summer visitor MSGR. PETER PFLOMM of the Diocese of Rockville Centre (Long Island) covered Masses at All Saints on the Hudson parish in Mechanicville/Stillwater while outgoing pastor REV. THOMAS MORRETTE was away and then packing for his move to St. Mary's parish in Glens Falls. REV. PATRICK RICE is the new pastor.

All Saints on the Hudson had its parish picnic recently -- this year, with a petting zoo and potluck....

Sacred Heart parish in Tribes Hill is holding hunter safety classes Sept. 14 and 21, 6:30 p.m. Register online at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's website or contact JOE INGLESE, (518) 842-4987....


Christ Sun of Justice parish in Troy, located on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, had its welcome picnic Sept. 3 after 5 p.m. Mass. Teams recreated celebrations from other cultures in the hope of winning prizes. Each year at the picnic, attendees donate scarves for people in need, which are displayed on a "scarf tree" and then distributed at a soup kitchen Christmas dinner in December.

MARTIN KAISER of Christ Sun of Justice completed his annual bicycle ride to raise funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. He brought in $6,503, making him the third highest fundraiser at the event. The grand total topped $69,000. Mr. Kaiser has raised more than $48,300 in the decade he has been participating in the fundraiser....

St. Michael's parish in Cohoes is starting its Polish language lessons for children and adults. Beginner and advanced classes start in September. Call (518) 867-1427....

Knights of Columbus at St. John the Baptist parish in Walton hosted the annual church picnic recently after a Mass. K of C scholarships were awarded at the picnic.
