Got Legos? St. Kateri School in Schenectady is looking for donations of unwanted Legos to use in its before- and after-school programs. There are collection boxes in both churches of St. Kateri parish. Holy Spirit parish in East Greenbush also asked for donations of Legos for its LIFT program to help children explore their faith; one recent topic was "heroes of the Bible," with each child learning what a hero is and getting a cape....

St. Mary's/St. Paul's parish in Hudson Falls is reinvigorating its altar service program. Children, youth, young adults and adults can learn to serve on the altar. "We are very excited to reestablish this wonderful opportunity for hands-on participation in the liturgy," the parish reported....

St. Mary's parish in Glens Falls announced a youth group hike July 29, leaving at 7:30 a.m., to hike Sleeping Beauty mountain....

The Knights of Columbus at Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville are sponsoring scholarships for parish youth to attend Camp Esther, a pro-life camp run by New York State Right to Life. The parish respect life committee selected ISABELLA LOTANO as a scholarship winner. A high school senior confirmed last spring, she wrote an essay about her concern over the "culture of death" and how to show others that Jesus has a better way.

ED SHERIDAN of Blessed Sacrament parish in Bolton Landing recently completed the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James), a pilgrimage walk across Spain. He gave a talk on his experience July 17 at the Bolton Town Hall....

St. Adalbert's parish in Schenectady has been seeking folks with talents in photography, social media, live streaming, videoconferencing, marketing, working with Microsoft Publisher, graphic arts and other areas to help "get the message out" about faith and the parish.

The parish published a history fact in the bulletin: The first Mass celebrated at St. Adalbert's was a Memorial Day "field Mass" by its first pastor, REV. JOSEPH GOGOLEWSKI, in May 1903. The Mass was celebrated on a platform erected over the newly-constructed foundation of the TRZOSKOWSKI family home at the top of Crane Street hill. An organ was borrowed from a parishioner's home and hauled up the hill for the occasion....

Immaculate Conception parish in New Lebanon noted that BETH KEEFNER has replaced office manager LINDA WALSH....

On June 14, REV. MICHAEL FLANNERY of Sacred Heart parish in Cairo and St. John the Baptist in Greenville celebrated his 20th anniversary of priesthood. He offered a Mass at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, with a dinner following....

St. Paul the Apostle parish in Hancock noted that, at Christmas, the parish gave out DR. SCOTT HAHN'S book, "The Lamb's Supper," extra copies were given to Ascension parish in Forest City, Pa., where parishioners are now reading the book. Seminarian KYLE EADS hosted a screening of the movie "Life is Beautiful" at Hancock Cinemas.

St. Paul's had a booth at a celebration in the Hancock town square, selling tacos. Also, a rosebush was been planted in the parish garden in memory of beloved parish secretary KATHLEEN ANTIDORMI, who died May 3. The parish has a new secretary, KELLY CUTLER, and new hours for the parish office: Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m....

Aug. 6 is the 100th anniversary of the cornerstone at St. Joseph's par­ish in Fort Edward. There's a celebration after the 9:30 a.m. Mass with a blessing, singing by the choir and a display of parish history....

REV. STEVEN SCARMOZZINO of Sacred Heart parish in Margaretville recently marked 20 years of priestly life. He thanked parishioners for helping him celebrate.

Father Scarmozzino also noted in the parish bulletin that "if every current parishioner resolved to make it their commitment to find one new parishioner," the parish rolls would swell to bursting. "The pool is wide and the people are there," from fallen-away Catholics to newcomers to the faith, he urged. "This is how the Church was formed. Never in the history of the Church did it recapture its past; it only strived to a future."

Sacred Heart in Margaretville recently sold its former parish center, saving $29,000 a year in upkeep....

At Holy Family parish in Little Falls, MARY ANN JONES, JOANNE MILLER and PEGGY ROMANO joined the pastoral council; TRACY COULSON, MARY SAGATIS, TERESA LEE, ANITA DULAK, JOHN DINNEEN and DEREK MILIANTA are finishing their terms. Other members of the council are MARIE PIETROPAOLI, MELISSA REFF, MARK WINKELMANN, DAVE VAN METER, PATTY SKLARZ, DEANNA SHAVER, JEAN GUINEY and ANN SANTRY....

St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Amsterdam generously donated potatoes and onions to be used as ingredients in pierogi and other food items for the parish festival at St. Stanislaus parish in Amsterdam. By the numbers, the festival used 100 pounds of dough to make fried dough, 220 pounds of kielbasa, 180 pounds of sauerkraut for kapusta, 150 pounds of beef and pork for golumbki and 135 heads of cabbage for pierogi and golumbki; 1,400 golumbki and 9,000 pierogi were sold. Sixteen hours of polka music was played for parishioners and visitors from as far away as Georgia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Oregon, Ohio and across New York State.

St. Stanislaus parish has a new logo featuring the parish's name, city, year of founding and the iconology associated with its patron, St. Stanislaus, who was a bishop and martyr....

Christ the King parish in Westmere, Albany, congratulated JOHN RISLER on being named grand knight of Knights of Columbus Council No. 3357. He replaces VINCE THOMAS. New pastoral council members at Christ the King are SUSAN CIFARELLI and JOE LAFRENNIERE. SALLY KING is youth ministry representative. They replace JOE DUFFY, CATHY SALADIS and ABBEY RYAN....

Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson is resurfacing its handicap ramp this summer....

St. Michael's parish in South Glens Falls thanked its Knights of Columbus for picking up the tab for two replacement garage doors; PAUL BRETON, PAUL LAPOINT and his grandson, PHIL ANUZSEWSKI and MARTY LEMMO for removing trees, saving the parish thousands of dollars; RAY AURELIA and MARTY LEMMO for putting up insulation in the church/school furnace room and keeping an eye on the lawn sprinkler system.

St. Michael's had a St. Anne triduum July 24-26 with REV. THOMAS BABIUCH as the celebrant....

Patriotic "lapghans" were made by the prayer shawl ministry at St. Paul the Apostle and Our Lady of Mount Carmel parishes in Schenectady for parishioners who are veteran or active service members in the U.S. Armed Forces. To offset the cost of materials, an American flag afghan was raffled off.

The St. Francis Fellowship at St. Anthony's parish in Troy began its summer evangelization program with participation in a "Troy Night Out" event, offering punch, cookies, conversation and prayer. This fellowship brings a Gospel presence to a community event....

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas' Court Stella Maris No. 396 at Notre Dame-Visitation parish in Schuylerville is sponsoring two events in September: a painting party fundraiser Sept. 9 at the Youth Center in Schuylerville and a bus trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville Sept. 30. Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville called itself fortunate to have pastor emeritus REV. THOMAS CONNERY celebrate Masses while REV. JEROME GINGRAS, pastor, was away with parishioners at Pyramid Life Center in Paradox. Father Connery was also celebrating his 80th birthday.

JOSEPH NALLY is moving on from a maintenance position at Immaculate Conception, replaced by CHRISTOPH BELROSE; a part-time maintenance person will also be hired. MARGE RIZZO, editor of Immaculate Conception's Parish Pipeline newsletter, was nominated as one of Schenectady County's "older New Yorkers of the year"....

St. Joseph the Worker parish in West Winfield/Richfield Springs sponsored its annual golf tournament by the Knights of Columbus July 22 at Stonegate Golf Course in West Winfield. The fundraiser helps the community. Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph's are also offering a ride to Mass for those who need it. The parish had a "Blue Mass" July 14 for police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, servicemen and women, veterans and their families, followed by a reception sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

A Bible study in the West Winfield chapel is examining "12 strong women of God." It's held Mondays at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Call BEA, (315) 822-5120.
