St. Luke's parish in Schenectady has been designated as the SICM free summer lunch program site for hungry children in the city's Central State Street neighborhood. Lunch is available to youth 18 and under; 2,000 meals are served each day. Parishioner GINNY BOHN will be the site supervisor, scheduling and coordinating volunteers on weekdays June 26-Sept. 1. At Immaculate Conception in Hoosick Falls, congratulations went to SARAH SIGOT on her Girl Scout Gold Award for initiating a weekend backpack program at the Hoosick Falls Central Schools through the Regional Food Bank and JAKE KINNEY on receiving his Eagle Scout rank for implementing a Hoosic River bird count and making benches for a local bike trail.

LUKE LAPEAN, a Vermont resident studying at Holy Cross College in Massachusetts, will be working at Immaculate Conception parish as a Catholic college intern this summer. He'll visit the sick and homebound, teach at vacation Bible school, help at a summer camp, update the parish census and assist at Mass; he'll also work at St. Patrick's parish in Cambridge....

Seminarian SAM BELLAFIORE will serve both St. Ann's parish in Fort Ann and Our Lady of Hope in Whitehall this summer to round out his formal education with real-life experience in parishes as he heads toward priesthood. Read his vocation story at www.albanyvocations.org....

On June 18, the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's/St. Paul's parish in Hudson Falls will be a baccalaureate Mass for all graduating seniors -- even those not from the parish -- who are invited to receive a blessing. Two scholarships will be given out by the parish guild; a reception sponsored by the guild will follow....

Young parishioner BENJAMIN BROUSSEAU of Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville is working toward his Eagle Scout rank by repairing parts of the youth ministries building. He spoke at Masses to ask for financial support for the materials. In related news, the roof on the parish center is being replaced....

St. Jude the Apostle School in Wynantskill recently sought volunteers to join its school board, committing to active participation in sub-committees in the areas of finance, education, marketing and development for three-year terms.

Ground has been broken and seeds planted for a community garden at St. Jude School. Students prepared planting beds and started seedlings; the produce they grow will be distributed to St. Joseph's Food Pantry and Joseph's House. All Saints parish in Albany is forming a girls' summer basketball league to run June 14-July 19 or 26. Games will be played on Wednesdays at the Watervliet Dome. Contact sportscommittee@allsaintsalbany.org....

Catholic Central High School sophomore and St. Pius X parishioner LUKE GEDDIES gave a talk to the youth ministry on his recent mission trip to Louisiana....

On June 3, the youth ministry team from Holy Trinity parish in Cohoes again participated in the Relay For Life at Watervliet High School. The parish congratulated REV. NICK TEBORDO, who is celebrating 40 years of service, having been pastor of the United Church of Cohoes since 1977....

On June 10, two students from St. Catherine's Center for Children in Albany will race cars in the Capital Region Soap Box Derby, held in Schenectady. The derby is a qualifying race for the Soap Box Derby World Championship in Ohio in July. Contestants will be racing down a hill on Franklin Street in Schenectady.

In addition, the Albany Barn will host an exhibit of artwork by children from St. Catherine's June 13, 5-7 p.m., at 46-48 North Swan Street. Blessed Sacrament parish in Bolton Landing rejoiced on May 21 that "today is a special anniversary for our parish! On May 21, 1963 (54 years ago) the church building we are sitting in was brand new, and BISHOP WILLIAM SCULLY celebrated the event with a special Mass and blessing. The former Catholic church building here in Bolton was deeded to the Town of Bolton for $1; it is now the Historical Museum on Main Street"....

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas are having a "Fruit of the Vine Wine Appreciation 101" event June 10, 1-3 p.m., at the Elks Club in Whitehall. Immaculate Conception in Hoosick Falls had its Memorial Day weekend "classic American picnic," with food, square dancing and sack races, sponsored by its faith formation program. On June 13, 6 p.m., there's a celebration of St. Anthony's feast with another picnic, Italian music and humor. Parish musician RICHARD CHERRY went home to Australia to visit his family recently. Eldest parishioner CAROLYN BACHORZ was wished a happy 99th birthday....

DEACON JOHN CRONIN is about to be ordained to the priesthood for the Albany Diocese. In his honor, knitters from St. Madeleine Sophie parish in Schenectady handmade a stole to be presented to him at his first Mass June 18 at the parish. Parishioners and students at the parish school joined in a "knit and pray" effort in thanksgiving for his vocation: "The stole is comprised of 21,600 stitches. Can our parish pray an equal number of prayers, one for each stitch?" noted the parish bulletin. Praying parishioners could move a bead for each single prayer, a blue strip for an entire Rosary or red for a Divine Mercy Chaplet (60 prayers each) into a "pray bowl."

All Saints on the Hudson parish in Mechanicville/Stillwater congratulated parish manager/bookkeeper GAIL MOORE and her husband, ED, on their 40th wedding anniversary....

The family events ministry at Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville is having a "Spring has Sprung" stroller decorating event and baby parade June 11, 10 a.m. Older children can decorate their doll's stroller and parade. St. Michael's parish in Troy will sponsor morning summer camps open to children of all denominations in grades pre-K through five, exploring Christian beliefs. Options include a July 10-13 Disneyland song and dance camp; a July 17-21 "Living In God's Kingdom" camp with the theme of a kingdom where God is King, Mary is queen, Jesus is the Prince of Peace and each citizen chooses a vocation to serve the kingdom; and a July 31-Aug. 4 sports and spirituality camp. The Columbiettes at Our Lady of Victory parish in Troy hosted an indoor garage sale and flea market June 3. Part of the proceeds will provide activities for children at the Sunnyside Center in Troy. St. Joseph's in Dolgeville noted that native son REV. MICHAEL JABLONSKI was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Ogdensburg in May. When St. Joseph's resumed its Saturday vigil Mass at Pentecost, the main celebrant was Father Jablonski.
