During Lent, a cross at Christ Our Light parish in Loudonville was covered with sticks signifying sins. On Easter morning, the stark cross was covered in colorful butterflies and white flowers made by faith formation students as symbols of love, forgiveness, rebirth, purity and transformation. "What a wonderful way to have all ages participate in [transforming] our Lenten cross to our Easter cross," the bulletin noted....

Sacred Heart parish in Troy now has a collection of contemporary Christian literature on the bookshelf on its choir loft level. "Please stop by, take a seat on our plush couches, and select a book that will broaden your understanding of the Catholic faith and yourself," the parish urged....

REV. DECLAN GIBSON, MSE, has returned to Our Lady of Hope parish in Whitehall and St. Ann's in Fort Ann for the next two months to finish out a parish internship for his religious order....

At St. Jo­seph's parish in Fort Edward, MAGGIE MCCURRY asked guests at her recent 85th birthday party to bring a food donation for the food pantry in lieu of gifts. "The response was amazing," the parish reported....

In April, Our Lady of Grace parish in Ballston Lake hit a milestone, having donated 10,000 pounds of food to Schenectady Inner City Ministry since the parish began monthly food drives in April 2010....

The Rosary Society at St. Mary's parish in Oneonta invited parishioners on May 2 to come and learn about Agape Flights. Parishioner MARY ZUMMO'S cousins, ROD AND JANET ALDRICH, sold their farm in Oxford, N.Y., to work full-time on collecting supplies for missions in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Cuba. St. Cecilia's parish in Warrensburg has a lot of gratitude: JIM VONDERHEIDE of OJ's Appliances donated a washer; JOE EHLE tightened up all the wobbly chairs in the church; BOB AND CHERYL YORK and BOB JONES of Steam America cleaned up a holy "oil spill;" ED GAIOTTI replaced storm windows and more; GAIL DEMARSH planned Holy Week events and the environment ministry pitched in; ministers of care delivered Easter baskets to the homebound - and the list goes on....
