The family of little ARCHIE KULKUS hosted a coffee hour at St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Rotterdam Junction (a mission of Our Lady Queen of Peace parish in Schenectady) April 23 to thank everyone who supported Archie during his battle with kidney cancer. After more than seven months of treatment -- more than half his life -- Archie is cancer-free and thriving. His parents, EMILY AND CHRIS; big sister, VIOLET; and grandmother, ANN, expressed gratitude for the support from the parish.

All Saints parish in Albany cheered its CYO basketball teams. For the first time, three of the four -- the junior boys' team, junior girls' team and biddy boys' team -- played in the Capital Region diocesan championship tournament. The biddy girls' team and pee-wee girls' team also had winning seasons. KEN KIENZLE is stepping down as CYO coordinator after a decade and SUZANNE KIENZLE is stepping down as a coach after 19 years to coach at the high school level. JASON COFFEY is taking over as All Saints sports committee chair; other committee members include JOE TOPINI, ANDY LUCARELLI, STACY MARANDO, GLORIA CABA­NISS and WENDY REEDER....

Our Lady of Victory parish in Troy said its CYO junior boys' team had an undefeated 12-0 season, earning a C Division championship title and winning a second league championship as title B Division Champions. Transfiguration parish just hosted a presentation at its Speigletown worship site on teen sadness and depression, teaching parents and teens how to recognize signs of depression and other mental health problems, initiate a conversation about mental health and get help....

REV. ROBERT LONGOBUCCO, pastor of St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish in Schenectady, and some parishioners planned to shave their heads for the annual "St. Baldrick's" event to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Parishioners could vote for a new hairdo for their pastor by placing dollars in a jar.

St. Kateri's youth ministry has been having a spring plant sale. Hanging baskets will be available on Mother's Day, May 14, along with gift certificates and Martha Washington geraniums....

At St. Mary's in Cooperstown, youth ministry members will sell roses for Mother's Day to decorate the church altar in honor of special women in parishioners' lives. A speaker from Youth 'Inc also planned to speak at Masses.

St. Joseph's/St. Michael's/Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Amsterdam announced that its Altar Rosary Society is disbanding due to age and lack of membership. The remaining eight members are invited to join the Christian Women's Society. A final Altar Rosary Society dinner will be May 7; REV. LAWRENCE DECKER, pastor, will bless and present statues of the Blessed Mother to the members.
