Students, faculty and administrators at The College of Saint Rose in Albany shaved their heads April 11 to raise funds for St. Baldrick's Foundation to support the fight against childhood cancer. A cappella ensembles The Girls Next Door and The Golden Notes performed during the event; the goal was to raise $10,000....

MARION CARDOZA of Sacred Heart parish in Sidney shared a reflection by her friend RABBI TUVIA BOLTON, dean of Yeshiva Ohr Tmimim in Kfar Chabad, Israel. It told the story of Jewish persecution at Passover in 1848 during struggles in Europe. Bandits threatened to take over the town of Alcee and the richest man in the community, Shmuel Leib, told everyone to get weapons and come to his house to fight them off together.

However, the arriving bandits passed Aaron the butcher's home first, and Aaron had stayed home to celebrate Passover with his family. When the bandits looked in the windows and saw that the house was brightly lit and the family was sitting around a festive table, singing, they said, "They have some sort of secret weapon. They aren't even afraid! It's a trap! If we don't get out of here now we'll be destroyed forever!" But it turned out that Aaron was unaware of the miracle. He told his friends, "I just did what Jews have been doing for over 3,000 years -- made the Passover seder and let G-d do the rest."

"Death is really an illusion. There really was no need to worry about the future; G-d put the present in our hands, and if we do our part G-d will do His," Rabbi Bolton concluded...

The class of 2017 from St. Pius X School in Loudonville took a trip to nearby Siena College to learn more college curriculum and offerings, see classrooms and listen to Siena students discuss what brought them to the college, the work they did as high school students and the career paths they were following....

St. Mary's Academy in Hoosick Falls announce its honor roll for the third marking period. Earning high honors was ASHLEY PACHECO.
