REV. RENDELL TORRES, pastor of Our Lady of Hope parish in Whitehall and St. Ann's in Fort Ann, brought a relic of St. Faustina when he spoke at the October session of the adult education program at St. Mary's parish in Ballston Spa. The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception and the Episcopal Cathedral of All Saints, both in Albany, just celebrated the 30th anniversary of a covenant relationship in which they support each other on their journeys of faith. Episcopal BISHOP DAVID BALL (since deceased) and BISHOP EMERITUS HOWARD J. HUBBARD created the covenant....

Catholic Charities reports that, a year after a fire tore through the DePaul Housing Management, Catholic Charities Housing and McCloskey Community Service offices at 41 N. Main Ave. in Albany, renovations are complete. An open house and blessing was held to reopen the space.

In related news, volunteers from Catholic Charities Tri-County Services were course marshals along the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon race route Oct. 8. On Oct. 1, the Empty Bowls Project raised awareness about hunger. Attendees choose a bowl and have it filled with soup at the event; Catholic Charities' Roarke Center in Troy is one of many local food pantries that benefit from the proceeds, and Roarke Center clients make pottery bowls for the event....

The ecumenical Capital Area Council of Churches honored MARY GIORDANO of Our Lady of the Americas Shrine Church in Albany (a mission of Blessed Sacrament parish) with its Campbell peace and justice award. She is director of the Family Promise organization that coordinates housing for homeless families and helps with a kids' summer lunch program.
