On Sept. 23 at 8:30 a.m. Mass, Transfiguration parish in Speigletown/Schaghticoke will celebrate “Sports Sunday,” noting the athletic abilities of parishioners young and old. Athletes of the parish can wear a favorite team shirt to Mass; there will be a blessing of athletes, followed by a hospitality hour in the hall. Coaches and teammates are invited to join in asking God’s blessings on their athletic endeavors, too....

On Sept. 28, 7:30 -9 p.m., St. Thomas parish is having a Day of the Dead Halloween card exchange with its sister parish’s youth group in Mexico. Parishioners can submit photos of favorite places — the church, school, library, town park and so on — along with their names and, in Spanish, a description of the picture, and everyone will gather Sept. 28 to write Halloween greetings in Spanish and make friendship bracelets to send to Mexico with the photos. There will also be Mexican snacks and games....
